The clearance by Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) is needed for senior level positions or empanelment and also for board-level appointments in the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), etc.
For this, CBI is required to provide inputs on officers being considered for such appointments to the anti-corruption watchdog. An online facility to share information on vigilance clearance has been made operational, official sources said.
The move will help in reducing the time taken in this procedure which was earlier being done manually and used to take about three months, they said.
A total of 315 vigilance clearances were processed and issued by the Commission for the board-level appointments last year. These were in addition to about 3,000 such clearances sought in respect of All India Services and Group A officials, the sources said.
