They were 12 from Congress, three from BJP, four from INLD and another MLA, who was in INLD, contested as a nominee of BJP this time.
The Congress candidates who retained their seats were outgoing Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda (Garhi Sampla- Kiloi), Speaker Kuldeep Sharma (Ganaur), Shri Krishan (Baroda), Jagbir Singh Malik (Gohana), Geeta Bhukkal (Jhajjar), Randeep Singh Surjewala (Kaithal), Shakuntala (Kalanaur), Jaiveer (Kharkhauda), Anand Singh Dangi (Meham), Jai Tirath (Rai), Kiran Chodhry (Tosham) and Raghubir Singh Kadian (Beri).
Krishan Lal Panwar retained his seat as BJP nominee from Israna. Earlier, he had switched over to the saffron party from INLD.
The BJP MLAs retaining their seats were Anil Vij (Ambala Cantt), Ganshyam Saraf (Bhiwani) and Kavita Jain (Sonepat).
In 2009, BJP's K P Gujjar had been elected from Tigaon Assembly segment. However, he contested the 2014 Lok Sabha polls from Faridabad and won.
