Only 6.16 pc Arts teachers clear TET in Himachal Pradesh

In a dismal performance, only 6.16 per cent trained graduate teachers (TGT) of Arts could manage to clear the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education, this year.
Secretary of the Board, Dr Vishal Sharma, today said in a statement that only 2,129 out of 34,546 teachers were declared pass in the exam conducted by the HP Board of School Education in February this year.
The pass percentage of the TGTs teaching in the medical streams in school is also very poor where 461 qualified out of 4,993 making the pass percentage just 9.23, he said.
According to the statement, the Junior Basic Trained Teachers (JBT) had a pass percentageof 61.45, Shashtri teachers had 50.56 per cent, TGT (non-medical) had 36.36 per cent and language teachers had pass percentage of 36.40.
The clearing of TET is essential in Himachal Pradesh to get the job of teacher in government institutions.
