Only in Delhi and four Union territories all schools, including the elementary, secondary and higher secondary ones, have electricity connection, according to an HRD Ministry data.
The Union territories include Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
The minimum number of schools with electricity connection are in Bihar.
The information was shared by the Union Minister of State for HRD, Upendra Kushwaha, in response to a written question in the Rajya Sabha.
According to the data, Bihar has 36.74 per cent elementary schools, 57.61 per cent secondary schools and 65.03 per cent higher secondary schools with electricity connection.
While Tripura has only 29.77 per cent elementary schools with electricity connections, 85.60 per cent secondary and 98.54 per cent higher secondary schools in the state have electricity connection, the HRD ministry data revealed.
"The government had electrified 3,222 schools during 2017-18, with the maximum of them being in Andhra Pradesh followed by Maharashtra. The schools electrified during 2016-17 and 2015-16 were 1,453 and 1,996 respectively," Kushwaha said.
Under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan scheme, the Central government supports states and Union territories for creation and augmentation of infrastructure facilities including internal electrification of schools.
