Congress MLA Vishwajit Rane today hinted only one member from his family may contest the 2017 Goa Assembly elections, to register their opposition to the "practice of 'Family Raj' in state politics".
Rane and his father, Leader of Opposition Pratapsinh Rane, are currently MLAs from Vapoi and Poriem constituencies in Sattari tulaka respectively.
"...May be only one person from my family may contest. Can't say anything at this stage," Rane told a press conference.
Asked if his father will retire from politics, Rane saidthe party needs senior leaders to guide them.
"All seniors need not retire from politics...We do need some seniors to guide us," former health minister added.
On prospects of pre-poll alliance ahead of the 2017 election, Rane said party leaders are yet to take the final call on it with like-minded parties.

"We (local leaders) all are in favour of alliance. But the final decision will be taken by the party senior leadership," he said.
Earlier in the day,Congress also announced it will scrap Investment Promotion Board (IPB), which is a brain child of current BJP-led state government, if they are voted to power.
"IPB is nothing but money making machine for the BJP at the cost of the interest of the state," Rane and his party colleague Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco said.
Rane claimed that in the garb of industrial development, IPB is converting agricultural and orchard lands disrespecting local laws and even regional plan.
