Noting the amount of work done by the SAD-BJP combine in Punjab during the past two years, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said only a strong and stable government can be the foundation of development in a state.
During a Sangat Darshan at Barnala, Badal said in order to ensure development and prosperity, it was important for the state and central government to work in tandem.
Stating that the Punjab government enjoys a very close and harmonious relationship with the central government which has resulted in rapid economic development of the state, Badal exuded confidence that the SAD-BJP would form the government for the third time in 2017.
Taking a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress, he said people of Punjab should not pay heed to the "misinformation campaigns" launched by these parties and give another chance to SAD and its partner BJP.
In a lighter vein, Badal said the present AAP government in Delhi is in the habit of locking horns with the central government and the same holds true for the earlier Congress governments also.
He further said that a sum of Rs 20,000 crore is being spent on 4-laning and 6-laning of roads and also many state and national highways are being widened as he laid stress on the significance of road, rail and arterial networks as contributing factors for development in any state.
Badal also claimed that Punjab is the only state where maximum social welfare schemes are going on.
He also mentioned free power to farmers costing Rs 6,000 crore to the state exchequer besides atta-dal, shagun scheme, Free health insurance scheme and Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra.
