Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister P K Dhumal today hit out at those opposing demonetisation, saying people in general are in its favour and only some "vested interests with political motives" are opposing it.
"The decision of the government to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes has proved that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has political will and courage to take bold decision whether it is surgical strike against Pakistan based terrorists or black money," Dhumal said in a statement here.
"The demonetisation was an attack on terrorists, drug mafia and extremists,... And also a warning for politicians winning the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections with the help of black money," the leader of the opposition claimed.
Dhumal said the "unease of some politicians, who had piles of black money," was understandable as the huge money had turned into black money overnight.
