The opposition AIADMK today urged Speaker V Vaithilingam to ensure that the territorial Assembly, convened to meet on March 26, has a 20 day session.

AIADMK's legislature wing leader A Anbalagan, in a letter to the Speaker, said a number of key issues related to the current fiscal hardships of the government, delay in implementation of welfare schemes, the need to have a Cauvery Water Management Board as per the Supreme Court's directive, remained to be discussed.

The letter was handed over to the Speaker today.

AIADMK has four members in the 30 member assembly.

Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on March 7 summoned the Assembly to have its session from March 26, without furnishing details of the total number of days it would be held.

Official sources had said it would be for a brief period.

The sources today said the session would adopt a Vote on Account bill, earmarking funds for the first few months of the fiscal 2018-19.
