Opposition members in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today met Governor K Sankaranarayanan to complain about the government's regional bias in allocation of development funds.
A delegation of about 30 members of Shiv Sena, BJP, MNS met the Governor in the backdrop of Opposition's allegation that the State Advocate General had given an affidavit in the court that the Governor's directive regarding equitable distribution of funds was advisory and not binding on the government.
The Legislative Assembly had to be adjourned for the day today following an uproar on this issue. The Opposition members urged the Governor to take up the matter with the government to which he assured them to speak to the Chief Minister.
The Opposition members also complained that Marathwada, which is reeling under acute water shortage did not figure in the Governor's speech to the joint session of both houses of the State Legislature. They requested him to visit the region.
