Opposition BJP and Congress condemned the ink attack on Deputy Delhi Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today, saying such undemocratic ways of protest has no place in the democracy.
Holding the AAP government "responsible" for the attack, they said such a situation has arisen due their "negligence" and "insensitivity" towards the problems of the public following the spurt in cases of dengue and chikungunya in Delhi.
President of Swaraj Janta Party Brajesh Shukla threw black ink on Sisodia when he was talking to reporters after meeting with Lt Governor Najeeb Jung today. He was arrested.
Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said the party believes that protests, like throwing ink and shoes or slapping, have no place in the democracy.
"BJP condemns the incident of throwing of ink on Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. We believe, in democracy, there is no such way to protest, like throwing ink or shoe and slapping the leaders but unfortunately it is the Kejriwal's party which gave political approval when it made Jarnail Singh an MLA (who hurled shoe at P Chidambaram) and now it is facing the same," he said.
The Delhi BJP chief also pointed to the "coincidence" of attacks on AAP leaders at a time when the party was facing flak from public and Opposition.

"Question comes to the mind that why do such incidents happen to AAP leaders whenever they are in a dock? At a time when Delhi wants to know from Deputy CM Sisodia the reasons of his Finland trip and about Kejriwal government's negligence on dengue and chikungunya occurrence, this ink throwing incident raises suspicion on the purpose behind it," he said.
Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken termed ink attack on Sisodia as "highly condemnable" which was not good for "healthy democracy" in the country.
"It is high time, AAP leaders should understand that they have been exposed before the people. Everybody knows that the Delhi Chief Minister, Deputy CM and ministers are in search of lame excuses for not doing work. Development in Delhi has come to a stand still," he said.
"People are also disturbed over the insensitive statements made my Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal whereby he said he does not have even power to purchase a pen and his Health Minister Satyender Jain's statement that people do not die due to Chikunguniya. The spread of chikunguniya and dengue epidemic is the recent example of the Delhi government's arelessness and failure," he added.
