Participating in a debate on demands for grants to certain departments in the Assembly today, Rao said he was grateful to the Chief Minister for presenting a 'tax free budget' and also for the announcements for the welfare of the downtrodden.
"I thank the Chief Minister on behalf of people of Yanam for the excellent budget," said Rao, elected from the lone assembly segment in Yanam, an enclave of Puducherry in Andhra Pradesh.
Rao said the Chief Minister should however take care that all the schemes announced in the budget were implemented fast as the time available for the present government is short.
He opined if the schemes were implemented fast, there was scope for 90 per cent of the present team of legislators of the Assembly getting re-elected in the 2016 polls.
When Rao was speaking, none of the other Congress legislators were present while the legislators belonging to ruling AINRC listened to him with rapt attention. Congress has a strength of seven members in the House.
