The government wants to have a debate on demonetisation in Parliament as it would give an opportunity to explain to the people about the benefits of the decision, he said.
"Unfortunately, right from day one, the Opposition has been coming up with one excuse or the other to ensure that Parliament does not run. It seems they have made up their mind that both Houses do not run for the remaining two days also," Singh said.
As far as the government is concerned, it has reiterated time and again that it wants to have debate on demonetisation, the minister said.
"It suits us. This gives us opportunity to explain to the people of the country the enormous benefits that are going to accrue through this historic decision taken by Prime Minister. I think that is precisely what is bothering the opposition," Singh said.
