Flaying the government for its "inept" handling of law and order situation in the state, including the case involving a top IPS official, opposition BJP staged a walkout from the assembly, expressing dissatisfaction over Home Minister K J George's reply over the issue.
Replying to discussions over the issue, the minister said the law and order situation was much better now than during that of the previous BJP government,"where many criminal incidents, including bomb blast cases were registered".
This led to vociferous protests by BJP members who rose to their feet and raised slogans against the government for not taking "satisfactory" steps to maintain law and order, but instead choosing to comment on incidents during the BJP rule. They then walked out
Dispelling the charges of BJP members, including Jagadish Shettar, Opposition leader in the House, George said action would be taken against ADGP Ravindranath, accused of taking "objectionable" pictures of a woman in a coffee shop here recently using his mobile phone. CID, which probed the charge, has reportedly confirmed that he did so.
"The CID will probe further to find out if the pictures were clicked by Ravindranath or not and accordingly, action will be taken," he said.
A section of Karnataka State Reserve Police, which he headed then, had hit the streets protesting he was being framed while Ravindranath had accused Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar of being involved in the effort.
George said the CID report has taken cognisance of the misbehaviour of HighGrounds Sub Inspector for "ill-treating" Ravindranath even after he revealed his identity to him.

"After an enquiry, if the SI is found guilty, the government will take action and suspend him," he said.
On the Mallikarjun Bande encounter case in January this year, George quoted from the CID report which said there was no unwarranted motive behind his killing.
"Bande was accidentally shot by his subordinate during a scuffle with Munna, who also was killed, in his house in January during the night" he said.
BJP has been voicing suspicion over the alleged role of policemen, including Inspector General of Police (North Eastern Range), Mohammad Wazir Ahmed, in the matter. The party had also alleged that the IGP was 'harassing' Bande.
Bande was killed during a raid in Gulbarga along with other police officials on the hideout of alleged contract killer Munna Darbadar, who shot at him.
Earlier raising the issue in the House, former Home Minister R Ashok flayed the government for the "deteriorating" law and order situation in the state.
He said the controversy surrounding the Ravindranath episode proved law and order has collapsed.
