Replying to discussions over the issue, the minister said the law and order situation was much better now than during that of the previous BJP government,"where many criminal incidents, including bomb blast cases were registered".
This led to vociferous protests by BJP members who rose to their feet and raised slogans against the government for not taking "satisfactory" steps to maintain law and order, but instead choosing to comment on incidents during the BJP rule. They then walked out
"The CID will probe further to find out if the pictures were clicked by Ravindranath or not and accordingly, action will be taken," he said.
A section of Karnataka State Reserve Police, which he headed then, had hit the streets protesting he was being framed while Ravindranath had accused Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar of being involved in the effort.
"After an enquiry, if the SI is found guilty, the government will take action and suspend him," he said.
On the Mallikarjun Bande encounter case in January this year, George quoted from the CID report which said there was no unwarranted motive behind his killing.
"Bande was accidentally shot by his subordinate during a scuffle with Munna, who also was killed, in his house in January during the night" he said.
BJP has been voicing suspicion over the alleged role of policemen,including Inspector General of Police (North Eastern Range), Mohammad Wazir Ahmed, in the matter. The party had also alleged that the IGP was 'harassing' Bande.
Earlier raising the issue in the House, former Home Minister R Ashok flayed the government for the "deteriorating" law and order situation in the state.
He said the controversy surrounding the Ravindranath episode proved law and order has collapsed.
