Government today accused the Opposition of moving the goalposts for having a debate on demonetisation and "wasting" the ongoing session, saying the rival parties stalled Parliament for another day despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi remaining present in Rajya Sabha.
"I do not know why it (opposition) is moving the goalposts. They were saying the Prime Minister should be present. He was there in Rajya Sabha today, before and after lunch. He was present in Lok Sabha one day.
"It is a great waste of the last 15 days. They are not representing the voice of people and not allowing others to do so. Congress has lost the direction completely," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said.
He appealed to the opposition parties to start a debate on the issue and put forth constructive suggestions.
The Opposition stalled Parliament for the eleventh consecutive day today though Modi was present in Rajya Sabha, a demand they had been making for resumption of debate on demonetisation.
