Besides, Congress and AIADMK members got more chance from Speaker Sumitra Mahajan than those in the BJP to raise issues during Zero Hours despite their names not figuring in the list of MPs selected to speak through lottery, official sources said.
Quoting statistics, they said while 45 BJP MPs were allowed to raise supplementary questions during the session, the number of major opposition party MPs who were allowed to do so was Congress 22, Trinamool Congress 12, AIADMK 9, BJD 6 and CPI-M 5.
Zero Hours saw as many as 80 members being permitted 179 times despite their name not figuring in the ballot. Twenty- six members of the Congress could raise issues a total of 62 times while 22 AIADMK members could do so 46 times, the officials said.
Overall, as many as 175 members of different parties were allowed to raise as many as 387 issues during Zero Hours in the session.
Noisy protests led to two brief adjournments of the House. Congress members created din questioning how the government was being allowed to speak on the same issue repeatedly, whereas their party's requests for adjournment motions are rejected by the Speaker.
