He was responding to reports in a section of the media which, according to him, claimed that DMK was vying with Sharad Pawar's NCP to get the Railways and Energy portfolios.

"They have written that since these were not available to us, we had seemingly resolved against FDI (in multi-brand retail)," he said.

Responding to a set of questions in party mouthpiece 'Murasoli', he recalled his recent categorical statement that besides the existing DMK representatives in the Cabinet,he was firm on not expanding his party's numbers in this regard.

He said DMK's 2006 election manifesto had maintained the party's opposition to FDI in retail and he had even mentioned it in the Assembly (as Chief Minister).

"It's our policy stand that there should be no FDI in retail," he said while flaying the "false reports."
