The CPI(M) accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of not delivering relief items and not allowing others to do the same either.
"Missing d Thames & d cool? CM may review & monitor. No flood tourism with her extra large team," CPI(M) state secretary and Leader of Opposition in State Legislative Assembly Surjya Kanta Mishra tweeted.
Senior Congress leader and MP Pradip Bhattacharya too accused the state government of playing petty politics over the distribution of relief items.
BJP state president Rahul Sinha said, "Instead of sitting in the state secretariat she should go to the villages which are under water and not just make press statements."
The flood situation in south Bengal districts today remained grim after fresh water was released from different barrages, worsening the condition of over 37 lakh affected people in 12 districts.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who stayed at state secretariat Nabanna overnight to personally monitor the flood situation, would visit Habra and Ashoknagar areas of North 24-Parganas district to monitor the relief and rescue operation there.
