BJP, Congress and BSP through separate adjournment notices during the Zero Hour alleged that most of the sugar mills have not yet started crushing and there had been a long delay in announcement of support price by the government.

Hukum Singh (BJP), Pankaj Malik (Cong), Dalbir Singh (RLD) and Swami Prasad Maurya of BSP said that farmers were facing immense problems because of the delay in announcing support price.

Maurya said, "Though crushing season begins in October, only 35 mills have started crushing and farmers are in a position where they would be forced to sell their produce at throwaway prices."

Maurya demanded that support price of Rs 425 per quintal be announced at the earliest.

Replying for the government, Azam Khan assured that it would be announced soon and farmers would get good price.
