Leader of the Opposition Ratan Lal Nath moved the privilege motion in the Zero Hour against the Leader of the House (chief minister) for not ordering a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in implementation of Aadhaar project.

When Speaker Ramendra Debnath did not allow the motion to be raised, Nath requested the Speaker to allow it as the chief minister had earlier agreed to order a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities.

However, the Speaker turned down the request saying this could not be done due to certain reasons. Opposition members then rushed to the podium and demanded that the motion be allowed.

As the Speaker stuck to his stand, Nath said the government did not keep its word and reminded the House that it was the last day of the 10th Assembly. He urged the Speaker to allow the mater to be discussed.

The chief minister said, "I told before the House that since the scheme is new and some loopholes came to forefront, there is no harm to undertake Special Audit and then CBI (probe).

"By this time, the government had taken up the issue with competent authorities to verify the allegations or errors. In turn, they (Centre) had sent a team for inquiry and it had not only given clean chit to the state government but also praised for the way it was implemented in the state," Sarkar said.

Dissatisfied with the reply of the chief minister, the entire opposition walked out of the house.
