Organisers of Airtel Delhi Half Marathon raise funds

Aiming to promote running as platform for health and fitness, organisers of Airtel Delhi Half Marathon are collecting funds through their philanthropic partner, India Care Foundation, which is associated with 104 NGOs and 43 Care Champions.
The organisers have raised around INR 4.50 crore.
"For ADHM 2015, India Care Foundation has already raised INR 4.50 crore, the highest fund raised raised in all eight years of the event so far, with six days still to go for the race day," the orgainsers said in a statement.
The fundraisers include people from different walks of life such as youths, elders, children, and corporates etc.
"Though running is a single person sport, when a cause is attached to this sport, it becomes a people's sport, city, a nation's sport. This being our second year as the philanthropy partner to the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, we have been encouraged by the wonderful response from the city of Delhi and NCR region, who have shown their whole-hearted support in the spirit of giving and running for a cause," said Murray Culshaw, chairperson of India Care Foundation which serves as philanthropy partner of marathon for second consecutive year.
World and Olympic record holder in 5,000 and 10,000 metres, Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia was named the event ambassador of the 8th Airtel Delhi Half Marathon last week.
Dwaraka Pandurangi of Vidhya Sagar, Utkarsh Kawatra of Blood Connect, Atish Kumar, a 14-year-old student from Lotus Petal Charitable Foundation, Arun Talwar of Udayan Care and Shubhendra Sachan of Nidan are some of the fundraisers for the event who represent different NGOs and organisers who works for social works.
The eighth edition of the event is scheduled for November 29, and would see a total of 34,000 runners from different corners of the world.
