The woman suddenly fell unconscious at her office here on November 30 and was rushed to K G Hospital, where she was diagnosed to be suffering from high blood pressure, cardio-vascular accident and intra-cerebral hemorrhage.
A team of specialists tried to revive her and her brain became dysfunctional yesterday and also suffered irreversible damage, Hospital chairman Dr G Bhakthavathsalam said.
After two mandatory apnoe tests, the doctors declared her brain dead in the evening, he said.
The Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu has allotted the liver and one kidney to K G Hospital, another kidney to Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, eyes to Aravind Eye Hospital, skin and bones to Ganga Hospital, he said.
The heart and lungs were allotted to Fortis Malar Hospital/Global Hospital, Chennai, Bhakthavathsalam said adding this helped nine persons get a new lease of life.
