In a horrific incident, an out-of-control city bus rammed into pedestrians and vehicles on a street in Secunderabad killing one person and injuring three others, police said Sunday.
The incident occurred Saturday (January 12) evening when the driver of an Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus lost his control over the vehicle, apparently due to brake failure, they said.
As a result, the bus jumped the lane and crossed over to other side of the road median where it hit two cars, a two-wheeler and an auto-rickshaw before knocking down at least five others, including a beggar and a woman, before ramming into a metro rail pillar.
Gopalpuram police station Admin Sub-Inspector CH Saidulu said an unidentified person was killed and three others, including a woman, were injured in the incident.
The bus driver was arrested on a complaint lodged by one of the injured persons, he said.
CCTV footage shows the bus hitting a car and other vehicles, and panic-struck people running helter-skelter.

The driver claimed that the bus didn't come to halth though he applied brakes, police said.
However, RTC officials, who conducted initial verification of the bus, stated that the vehicle was in good condition.
A Motor Vehicle Inspector would look into the matter to ascertain the exact cause of the incident, the police official said.
