"I had the privilege and great honour to serve as the Governor of Tamil Nadu for five years," he said in a thanksgiving message here. He said he carried back "fond memories" of the "kindness and love" of the people.
"I am extremely grateful to the people of Tamil Nadu for their love and affection. I am overwhelmed by the courtesy extended by them during my tenure as Governor," Rosaiah said.
He thanked Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, her Cabinet colleagues, leaders of all political parties, educationists and social service organisations and chambers of commerce and industry and officials.
"Tamil Nadu has been steadfast in its growth and is one of the pioneering States and cultural capital of India. It is an educational hub known for its quality higher education, peace loving and hard working people," he said in a release from Raj Bhavan.
As Chancellor of State-universities, he said he had taken efforts to further strengthen the standard of education and been instrumental in introduction of various streams in higher education.
