Fans of "Outlander" will have to wait for the TV drama series a little longer as the show will not return until early next year.
Starz made the announcement regarding the fifth season of the series at the Television Critics Tour on Friday, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey A Hirsch said the decision was based on a scheduling decision.
"Everything we do is based on delivery, trying to have something on the air to serve that premium female audience.
"We have some shows coming before like 'Power' that serve the general market. It's more about scheduling around that digital experience," Hirsch said.
Last year, the series was renewed through its sixth run.

"Outlander" is based on the historical time travel series of novels of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. The next chapters will continue to follow the outline of her novels.
The show follows Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a married World War II nurse who by the end of the war finds herself transported back to the Scotland of 1743, where she encounters the dashing Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and becomes embroiled in the Jacobite risings.
