Over 1,000 CISF personnel for thermal power plants, Infosys

Home Minister P Chidambaram at his monthly press conference here today announced that 54 additional Central Industrial Security Force personnel will be deployed for securing the campus of software firm Infosys in Mysore.

The Pragati Power Station in national capital's Bawana will see an enhanced security cover of 200 more CISF troopers.

Other units which will have the fresh CISF cover are Koderma Thermal power project in Jharkhand (323), Durgapur Steel Thermal power station in West Bengal (239), Raghunathpur Thermal power station in West Bengal (84) and Paricha Thermal power project in Uttar Pradesh (42).

Chidamabaram also announced enhanced security cover for National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) and Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) at Sardar Patel Bhawan in Delhi by providing 17 more CISF personnel and 45 additional troopers of the paramilitary force for the Ahmedabad airport.

The total sanctioned strength of the CISF that was announced today stands at 1,004 personnel.

The CISF is the primary force mandated to guard the country's airports and vital installations in public and private domain.
