Over 1.3 lakh girls covered under Sabla scheme in Haryana

Over 1.36 lakh adolescent girls have been covered in Haryana under Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls, also known as 'Sabla', by the end of October.
The scheme was launched in six districts of the state in March 2011, an official spokesman said here today.
It was meant exclusively to cater to nutritional and health care requirements of adolescent girls and also to upgrade their home-based skills, life skills and vocational skills, he said.
The girls between the age group of 11-18 years were being covered under the scheme, he said.
Initially, the scheme was launched on pilot basis in six districts of Haryana namely Ambala, Hisar, Rewari, Rohtak, Yamunanagar and Kaithal.
A sum of over Rs 24.30 crore has been spent to empower the adolescent girls under the scheme, he added.
