In a major drug haul, sleuths of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 1,745 kg of poppy husk from a container truck and arrested its driver in Dangiawas area near Jodhpur.
The contraband was found hidden behind the air conditioners loaded in the container.
According to NCB Director Madho Singh, a tip off was received by them that a container was heading to Jodhpur from Ahmedabad with a huge consignment of poppy husk.
The NCB sleuths put up a check-post at Dangiawas near Jodhpur and intercepted the vehicle bearing a Gujarat registration number, he said.
"The container was stuffed with the air conditioners. On checking of the container, these sacks of poppy husks were found hidden in the boxes of air conditioners," Singh said.
The contraband and the container vehicle was seized, while its driver identified as Kanhaiyalal Nath was arrested, he said.

The poppy husk weighed 1,745 kg packed in sacks. The container had left from Ahmedabad with 312 air conditioners, which were to be off loaded in Haridwar, he added.
"But instead of heading to Haridwar, the driver halted in Nimbahera, loaded the poppy husk in the container and came to Jodhpur. The NCB has registered a case under the NDPS Act and investigation is on to find out to whom this consignment was to be delivered," Singh said.
The owner of the vehicle Ravi Prakash Sharma was also escorting the truck in his car but managed to flee from the spot.
