Over 100 golfers to participate in All India Police Golf

Over 120 golfers from 31 states and central police organisations will take part in the 17th All India Police Golf Tournament to be held at Royal Springs Golf Course here next week.
The three-day event, starting October 8 will see 123 players compete for the top honours.
This is the third time that Jammu and Kashmir Police is hosting the tournament, after it organised the event in 2002 and 2005.
The J&K Police said that the event offers a unique opportunity to interact and make the intra-police bonds stronger.
"It (the event) offers an opportunity to interact with each other and make stronger the bonds within the police community across the country," Director General of J&K Police, Ashok Prasad told reporters here today.
Prasad said various sporting activities have picked up in the valley and the Police wants to give impetus to such activities.

"Sporting activities are picking up in the valley and this event will help in attracting lot more people to visit Kashmir," he said.
The state police chief said Kashmir has the most wonderful golf courses in the world and offers best facilities for the sport.
He said the participants include DGP-level players and is sponsored by All India Police Sports Control Board.
Prasad said the registration of players will start on October 8 and the opening ceremony will be held next day.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will be the chief guest on the occasion, he said.
The valedictory ceremony will be held on October 10 in presence of Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, Prasad said.
