Over 1100 Nepali liquor bottles seized from 2 Bihar districts

More than 1100 bottles of Nepali liquor have been seized from two districts of Bihar along the Indo-Nepal border, smuggled into the state that is witnessing total prohibition, officials said today.
A team of Sashashtra Seema Bal (SSB) seized 860 bottles of Nepali liquor, valued at Rs 4.30 lakh, in Araria district late last night, SSB's 56th battalion Commandant Mukesh Gautam said.
He said a SSB team, which was on patrol duty, stopped the smugglers when they sneaked inside the Indian territory on three bikes near Manikpur village under Fulkaha outpost of the district.
The trio fled taking advantage of the darkness, but left behind their motorcycles and 860 bottles of 300 ML each, the Commandant said.
In an another incident, two persons were arrested with 300 bottles of Nepali liquor in Madhubani district, in-charge of the SSB's Gangaur camp Mani Bhushan Prakash said.
He said the arrested persons have been identified as Ravi Shankar Sah and Mohd Saddam, both of them residents of different villages falling under Harlakhi police station area.

One of their accomplice, who was helping them smuggle the liquor into the Indian territory from Nepal near the border pillar no. 52, managed to flee.
The seized liquor and the arrested persons have been handed over to the local police, the SSB official said.
Seizure of huge consignment of alcohol is significant as Bihar is witnessing complete ban on alcohol since April last year.
