More than 150 delegates from countries like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and from different states in the country are participating in the Punjab International Trade Expo (PITEX).
It was stated by Anil Khaitan, Vice President of the PHD Chamber here.
"The main objective of this buyer-seller meet is to showcase India's capability as the reliable supplier of sustainable quality of automobile, bicycle, agri machinery and implements, hand tools, textile, home interiors, healthcare, pharma, medical equipment and sports goods sectors at competitive rates," Khaitan said.
He said the B2B (business to business) meets tomorrow would also provide unique opportunity to major buyers from overseas markets to interact with Indian manufacturers for sourcing their product requirements from India.
Khaitan said given the global slowdown and Asia being the prime mover of economic growth in 2013 and 2014, the South Asian economies must work more closely.
Rajiv Bali, Chairman of the Punjab Committee of PHD Chamber, said PITEX is an initiative that provides small and medium enterprises a wide platform to support small and medium enterprises besides the large industries to connect to the national and international markets.
On this occasion, Punjab Industry minister Madan Mohan Mittal said expos like PITEX are an ideal platform for sharing of experience and knowledge of trade among the international delegates.
The five-day mega trade exhibition began on December 3 at Ranjit Avenue here in collaboration with the Punjab government.
