From January to December, non-governmental organisation Maiti Nepal has claimed to have rescued 54 girls from different cities of India, including Delhi, Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Orissa, and Manipur.
From Delhi, 33 girls were reportedly rescued by the organisation over the past one year, the Maiti Nepal said in a statement.
Seven girls were rescued from Sri Lanka, three from Kuwait, two from Saudi Arabia and one from Bangladesh.
Similarly, 109 girls were intercepted from Nepal-India border and various other places while they were being trafficked to India, the statement said.
They are residing in the rehabilitation centre run by Mati Nepal.
