Over 20 high-def cams to make DD's R-day coverage visual treat

With 27 high-definition state- of-the-art cameras, two giant hydraulic cranes and a team of over one hundred personnel, Doordarshan has made meticulous plans to ensure that its live telecast of the 67th Republic Day celebrations on Rajpath is a visual treat.
"Doordarshan plans to have no less than 27 high-definition state-of-the-art cameras this year while the number of such cameras was 24 last year, as we intend to ensure a visual treat for viewers across the globe," an official said.
Giving details, they said fifteen of the cameras would be placed along Rajpath including two robotically-controlled cameras placed right inside the President's enclosure.
Seven cameras will be positioned at the India Gate while five will be at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official said in a statement.
Two hydraulic cranes, measuring over 80-ft in height will also be used to mount cameras for dynamic aerial views, an official said.
Exclusive dynamic microphones will also be deployed on parade ground to pick up foot movements, commands of officers and other atmospheric sounds.

The coverage will incorporate the departure of President Pranab Mukherjee along with chief guest French President Francois Hollande from the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The live coverage from India Gate and Rajpath would highlight the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President M Hamid Ansari and the President along with the French President.
Some of the cameras will be also be installed at the top of the India Gate to provide a panoramic view of entire Rajpath while more such shots will be provided by four jimmy jib cameras, officials said.
A team of over one hundred Doordarshan personnel has been working close to three months with diverse agencies to make the event a visual treat for viewers.
