Over 23,000 cases of illegal construction, encroachment in

As many as 23,587 cases of illegal constructions and encroachments were reported by Delhi Police to civic agencies including New Delhi Municipal Council and three municipal corporations till November this year, said Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran in Lok Sabha today.
In 2012, Delhi Police had intimated 29,203 cases of illegal constructions and encroachments to respective civic agencies. In 2010 and 2011, a total of 20,152 and 30,035 cases were reported respectively.
In reply to a query regarding involvement of officials of civic agencies and Delhi Police in illegal construction and encroachments, Ramachandran said 258 officials of unified MCD were found responsible for illegal constructions and encroachments in 100 RDA cases from January 2010 to August 2012.
During September 2012 till date, complaints against 7 officials of South DMC, 27 of East DMC and 8 of North DMC were receivd, while no such case has been received by NDMC.
Likewise, complaints against 76 police personnel have been received till November this year while 63 police personnel were found involved in 2012, 101 in 2011 and 189 in 2010.
