A total 3.26 lakh cases were settled and Rs 6,11,00,17,765 awarded and settled while disposing of the cases yesterday, a spokesperson of Punjab Legal Services Authority (PLSA) said today.
He said 696 benches were constituted in Punjab for disposing of these cases. "A total 4,12,581 cases were referred in the National Lok Adalat out of which 3,26,348 cases were settled," he said.
In this Lok Adalat, various types of cases were taken up for their amicable settlement.
These included Criminal Compoundable Cases, Negotiable Instrument Act cases, Motor Accident Claim Tribunal cases, Matrimonial/family courts cases, Labour disputes, Civil cases, Rent, Bank recovery, Tribunal cases, Revenue cases, MNREGA, Electricity and Water Bills (excluding theft cases), Tax matters, Salary, Allowances and Retirement benefits, Forest Act cases, Cantonment Boards matters, Railway Claims, Cases pending in the High Court and Pre-litigation matters.
"After the disposal of a case in the Lok Adalat, no appeal can be filed and the litigation is finished forever. If the Court Fee is paid at the time of filing of the case, the same is refunded to the party after the settlement of the case in the Lok Adalat," he said.
