Over 300 unauthorised people staying in J-K govt flats evicted

The Jammu and Kashmir government has evicted over 300 people living illegally in government flats in the state during the last two years.
These flats were allotted to "deserving employees", Director Estates, Ghulam Nabi Itoo said.
"While doing so, a majority of the quarters were allotted toemployees in consultation with Civil Secretariat Employees' Unionsincluding Assembly Secretariat," he said.
The director called for the eviction of unauthorised occupants, implementation of online allotment system, framing of a new allotment policy and providing of quality services to the tenants livingin such residential colonies and hotels.
The Director Estates also fixed a deadline for collection of pending rent from the defaulters.
It was decided that special rent collection camps will be organised in residential colonies and VIP areas in order to ensure that outstanding rent is collected in a time-bound manner.
