"The Approval Committee of Special Industry Initiatives (SII), J&K, approved the proposal of Yes Bank and HCL Technologies Ltd to train 150 and 5,000 candidates in five years, respectively, under the Udaan scheme," Home Minister P Chidambaram said in his monthly conference here today.

'Udaan' is aimed at providing well-paid jobs to trained manpower in a Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode between the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and corporate houses.

Chidambaram had in March launched an interactive website --www.Nsdcindia.Org/udaan-- to facilitate job prospects for youths from J-K and act as a bridge between unemployed youngsters with corporates seeking talented workforce.

Eight corporate houses, including HCL, Wipro BPO and Future Group, have also signed an agreement with the NSDC in this regard.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has also proposed an allocation of Rs 150 crore to the Ministry of Home Affairs as SII for Jammu and Kashmir.
