Over 50,000 quintals of mustard, at the rate of Rs 4,000 per quintal, has so far been procured by HAFED in Haryana, a minister said here today.
Haryana's Minister of State for Cooperation, Manish Kumar Grover, said the state government had made elaborate arrangements for the procurement of mustard and to avoid any inconvenience to farmers, over 35,000 quintals had already been lifted.
The minister said that about 2,500 farmers in 248 villages benefitted from the procurement of mustard which has been begun at a large scale for the first time.
As many as 38 centres have been set up for procurement of mustard. Apart from procurement, lifting of mustard was also being ensured, he said.
He said on the demand of farmers for other purchase center, more centres would be set up.
Purchase centres have been set up at Loharu, Tosham, Bahal and Bhiwani town in district Bhiwani, and procurement of mustard has beenconducted at Badhara and Charkhi Dadri town in district Charkhi Dadri.

Similarly, purchase centres have been established at Bhattu Kalan in Fatehabad, Heli mandi, Farrukh Nagar and Sohna in Gurugram, Bas, Lohari, Uklana and Hisar city in Hisar.
In addition, these centres have also been set up at Jhajjar, Matanhail, Gharaunda, Ateli, Kanina, Mahendragarh, Narnaul, Satnali, Bawal, Kosli, Rewari, Jind, Taoru, Meham, Kalanuar, Rohtak, Sirsa, Dabwali, Ellenabad, Kalanwali, Kheria and Chopta, he said.
He said that adequate arrangement of mustard procurement has been done.
As per the directives issued to the authorities, the officers would ensure that farmers did not face any trouble, he said.
