Over 57 per cent vote in Mathura local body polls

"No untoward incident has taken place. The polling was slow in the morning, however, it geared up later," District Magistrate Alok Tewari said

"The counting would take place on July 24," Tewari said.

Maximum polling percentage was recorded in Bajna Nagar Panchayat where 85.33 per cent voters cast their vote.

The polling in Mathura Nagar Palika was recorded at 51.75 per cent, while it was 51 per cent in Vrindaban and 63.9 per cent in Kosi Nagar Palika, he said.

Post elections, supporters of two candidates indulged in brickbatting in Mevati Mohalla falling under Govind Nagar police station, SSP N Padmaja said, adding, nobody was seriously injured.

"Police has been posted in the area and the situation is well within control," the SSP said.
