The event will comprise three caterogies -- 5km, 10km and half marathon of 21.1km -- for which over 1,000 participants have been confirmed from Chennai, Bengaluru, Salem and Tirupur, alongside Air Force, Army, CRPF, Madras Regiment Centre and Police, Director of VCM Ramesh Ponnusamy told reporters here today.
The half marathon alone has attracted over 1,100 entries and women comprise 18 per cent of the total entries, he said.
The prize money for the half marathon will be Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 for the first, second and third places, while for the top three places in the 10km category would be Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000.
Suresh Kumar, Business Head, Tamil Nadu and Chennai, Vodafone India, said his company has readily agreed to be the main sponsors since it was for a good cause as Vodafone is committed to achieving the highest standards in health, safety and well being for all.
