Over 80,000 affected by floods in Assam

Over 80,000 people have been affected in the latest wave of floods in four districts of Assam.
According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), more than 80,500 people are reeling under the flood in Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Nagaon and Jorhat districts.
More than 4,100 hectares of crop have been damaged in the flood in these districts.
Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger mark at Nematighat in Jorhat and Tezpur in Sonitpur district, Dhansiri at Numaligarh in Golaghat and Jia Bharali at NT Road crossing in Sonitpur, ASDMA said, adding six temporary bridges have been washed away in Jorhat.
ASDMA said a number of locations in the city too are under water after the heavy rains yesterday.
Meanwhile, Kamrup Metropolitan district administration has indefinitely stopped ferry services on Brahmaputra in Guwahati due to rising water level.
