More than one lakh devotees today offered worship at saint Ramalinga swamigal's Sathiya Gnana Sabai (temple of wisdom) at Vadalur near here on the occasion of 143rd Jothi Darshan festival.
The devotees, including several from Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia and US, thronged the temple established in 1871 by the spiritual leader, popularly known as 'Vallalar', who was against idol worship and preached that God is One and he is of supreme divine light.
The sanctam sanctorium at the temple is opened only once every year on 'Thai Poosam' day in the Tamil month of 'Thai' (January-February) for jothi dharshan when seven differently coloured screens (illusions) are lifted one by one and finally the great divine grace light (lit camphor) will be shown on a mirror.
District Collector R.Kirlosh, Superintendent of Police Rathika, industrialist Pollachi Mahalingam were among those who had darshan of the jothi.
