The Chief Technical Examination, an investigating wing under the CVC, examined works done by 61 central government departments and effected recovery of Rs 151.19 crore during 2012, according to the anti-corruption watchdog's performance report for December last.
The CVC processed 1,922 complaints of corruption during the month with 158 of them coming from whistle blowers.
The probity watchdog advised initiation of major penalty proceedings against 108 officials for their alleged involvement in corruption.
Of these, a highest of 12 were working in Punjab and Sind Bank, 10 each in Industrial Development Bank of India and Department of Telecommunications, nine in Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board and eight in State Bank of India among others.
Seven officials working in Ministry of Railways, six each in Border Roads Development Board, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and Punjab National Bank, and five each in Indian Council of Agriculture Research and UCO bank among others were also advised major penalty proceedings by CVC, it said.
"On the advice of the Commission, the competent authorities imposed major penalties in respect of 34 officials of various ministries, departments or organisations," the report said.
