More than three lakh saplings were planted on Friday at 1,300 locations across the city in a mega plantation drive undertaken by the Delhi government.
The Forests and Wildlife Department of the Delhi government launched the massive drive aimed at increasing the green cover in the city and improve the environmental quality of urban life.
"Delhi's future is dependent on our actions which we take today to make Delhi greener and pollution free tomorrow. It is our responsibility to protect the future of our children and make Delhi breathe," Environment Minister Kailash Gahlot said.
The minister launched the plantation drive at Issapur forest.
A total of 19 departments and civic agencies and some private institutions participated in the mega plantation drive.
More than 1200 schools, colleges, resident welfare associations, citizen groups and individuals also participated.
