Haryana's Hisar was the hottest place in the plains of the two states with a high of 35.2 degrees Celsius, six notches below normal.
While Ludhiana had a high of 34 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal, the maximum temperature at Patiala was 32.9 degrees Celsius, six notches below normal.
Among other places, Chandigarh settled at 32.5 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal, followed by 32.4 degrees Celsius at Ambala, six notches below normal, and 31 degrees Celsius at Amritsar, nine notches below normal.
The MeT office here has forecast light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers at most places in the region during the next 24 hours.
The sky remained overcast for long after the rain had stopped in most parts of the region today.
