Zinc futures edged up by 0.75 per cent to Rs 141.20 per kg today as speculators enlarged positions amid positive cues from global markets and rising domestic demand.
Zinc for delivery in May was trading Rs 1.15, or 0.75 per cent, higher at Rs 141.20 per kg in a business turnover of 1,253 lots in futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange.
The metal for delivery in June also rose Rs 1.45, or 0.74 per cent, to Rs 142.40 per kg with a business turnover of 72 lots.
Marketmen said besides improved demand in the spot market, a strength in base metals overseas as manufacturing data from China, the world's biggest consumer, signaled the first improvement in three months, led to a rise in zinc prices at futures trade.
