P Chellapandi takes over as BHAVINI chief

Senior nuclear scientist P Chellapandi today took over as Chairman & Managing Director of Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited (BHAVINI) located at the nuclear complex at Kalpakkam, some 70 km near here.
"I have taken over as CMD of BHAVINI today. We aim to generate electricity and attach it to the grid within the end of this year," he told PTI.
Chellapandi has served for over 38 years in the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), also located at the nuclear complex.
BHAVINI, the government of India enterprise under the Department of Atomic Energy, aims at constructing and commissioning the country's first 500 MWe Fast Breeder Reactor (FBR) at the nuclear complex here.

According to BHAVINI, the 500MWe Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor is in an advanced stage of construction and is poised for commissioning with a physical progress of 97.63 per cent till date.
