P K Purwar gets additional charge as MTNL chief for 3 months

P K Purwar has been given additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) for three months.
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved entrustment of additional charge of the post of CMD, MTNL, in favour of Purwar, for a period of three months with effect from June 8, an order issued today by Department of Personnel and Training said.
Purwar is currently working as Director (Finance) in MTNL, which has been without a full-time CMD since May 31, 2014, following superannuation of A K Garg.
Meanwhile, the government has started search for the new head of the loss-making telecom PSU, after a gap of two years.

A search-cum-selection committee has been constituted under the chairman of Public Enterprises Selection Board for appointment to the post of the CMD on deputation basis for a period of five years, according to a notice.
Purwar had earlier also held the additional charge of the same post between June 2014 and June 2015. Narendra Kumar Yadav, Member (Services) Department of Telecom, was been given the additional charge of CMD on June 8, 2015 and as per rules he relinquished the post after a year.
