Senior IPS officer P P Pandey, who is out on bail in the alleged fake encounter case of Ishrat Jahan, has been appointed as the in-charge Director General of Police (DGP) of Gujarat after the incumbent P C Thakur was transferred to Delhi, a senior police official from the state control room said today.
The control room was informed late last night that P P Pandey would hold the additional charge of state DGP till further announcement about the permanent DGP, said the official requesting anonymity.
Pandey is a DGP rank IPS officer and currently posted as the Director of state Anti Corruption Bureau.
Ministry of Home Affairs through a circular has announced the appointment of Thakur, who was serving as state DGP since 2013, as the Director General of Civil Defence and Home Guards in Delhi.
