The apex body of chartered accountants, ICAI today said it is making efforts to expedite the next course of action with respect to a complaint filed against one of its member by Packwell Manufacturers.
An official of Packwell Manufacturers (Delhi) Pvt Ltd had filed a complaint against a chartered accountant entity in November 2013.
"The matter is currently under examination for formation of prima facie opinion by the Director (Discipline)... All necessary efforts are being made to expedite further course of action in the said matter," the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India said in a statement.
After receiving the complaint, ICAI's disciplinary directorate pursued the matter and a response was received from the concerned member December 2013.
However, the complainant filed a rejoinder to the response given by the chartered accountant.
Subsequently, ICAI gathered additional documents and the "matter was ordered for processing on August 25, 2014 for formation of prima facie opinion of Director (Discipline)".
Amid reports that there has been a delay in proceeding with the complaint, ICAI President K Raghu said that law has to take its own course.
"...It needs to be understood that the law has to take its own course and it may take little time but ICAI is committed to ensure justice and uphold the values of excellence, independence and integrity," Raghu noted.
