Paddy arrivals pick up pace in Haryana

The arrival of paddy in the mandis of Haryana is fast picking up as 13.75 lakh tonnes (LT) of paddy has so far arrived, which is 48 per cent more than what had arrived during the corresponding period last year.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said that out of the total arrival, 13,72,525 tonnes of paddy, the government procurement agencies have purchased 13,62,211 tonnes of paddy, the millers and dealers have purchased 13,375 tonnes of paddy.
Referring to arrival of paddy in the mandis of different districts, he said that so far, 4,55,233 MT of paddy has arrived in Kurukshetra, 3,16,114 tonnes in Karnal, 2,32,731 tonnes in Kaithal, 2,15,382 tonnes in Ambala, 88,351 tonnes in Yamunanagar, 36,458 tonnes in Panchkula, 17,980 tonnes in Jind, and 5,594 tonnes in Fatehabad and 748 tonnes paddy has arrived in Palwal.
He said out of the total arrival, 6,27,816 tonnes of paddy has been purchased by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, 4,66,974 tonnes by HAFED, 1,61,921 tonnes by the Haryana Agro-industries Corporation, 1,04,559 tonnes by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 941 tonnes has been purchased by Food Corporation of India. Also, 1,718 tonnes of bajra has arrived in the mandis, he added.
He said that farmers have been advised to clean and dry their produce properly before bringing it to the market so that they do not have to face any problem in selling it.
